Common Questions on Wall Preparation & Paint Selection

How do I prepare a wall before painting?

Clean dust and dirt, wash off oils, scrape loose flaking paint, patch cracks with approved exterior or interior filler, allow fresh plaster to cure thoroughly (minimum 28 days for new cement plaster), and apply an appropriate primer such as Charow Texture Primer before applying your finish coats.

How do I choose between different wall finishes?

Choose Matt Emulsion for ceilings and low-traffic areas where hiding surface imperfections is key, Vinyl Silk for washable high-traffic interior walls, Weather Guard for exterior walls exposed to tropical sun and heavy rain, and Texture Paint for heavy-duty decorative stone-like architectural protection.

How can I estimate paint quantity for my project?

Calculate the total wall area in square metres, deduct doors and windows, divide by the product’s specified coverage rate per litre from its Technical Data Sheet, and multiply by the number of coats (typically 2). Add a 10% allowance for porous or textured plaster. You can also use our interactive online Paint Calculator.
